Cornerstone Habitat and Land Management, LLC is a Veteran-family Owned business located in Southeast Ohio. We opened our doors in 2021 after continuously seeing landowners in our area with a need for professional habitat design and implementation services to help them manage their properties for wildlife. Since beginning, we’ve worked with private landowners, conservation organizations, state agencies, and other businesses, and can honestly say that we've learned something new every day. We love helping landowners transform their properties and look forward to doing so for a long time to come. We strive to build healthy landscapes that can stand the test of time, so that both current and future generations can reap the benefits of our work. Through detailed management prescriptions that are easy for landowners to follow and implement, we set priorities of work, schedules of treatment, and clear indicators of progress that allow clients to maximize the time and effort spent on their properties. If a landowner needs assistance getting everything started, we have an excellent team of trained technicians and a network of related professionals capable of meeting just about any need a landowner may have. No two properties are the same, and we love tackling unique challenges for clients. Contact us now to tell us about your habitat project.

David grew up in Ohio and spent every spare minute he had in the outdoors. But, just like his parents and grandparents before, duty called and he joined the military after college. After serving eight years, honorably, in the U.S. Army, he medically retired in 2018. The GI bill then allowed him to finally pursue his passion- Wildlife Management. Armed with a degree in Wildlife Conservation and years of experience managing his own farm in Southern Ohio primarily for wildlife, David began volunteering his time helping friends, family, and neighbors with their habitat needs. After seeing a need for professionals in the industry, David brought the idea to his wife, and just months after the birth of their son, he added: Owner -Cornerstone Habitat to his resume. This business is truly his passion, and though he comes home bruised, bloody, and exhausted every day, he loves what he does because the work matters. The reason David puts his boots on every day is to make this region better for wildlife and more productive for each landowner he is working for. Give us a call, he’d love to assist you with your property next.

Colin holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Wittenberg University and an M.S. in Conservation Biology from Antioch University New England. For his Master's research, he worked with the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves and the Ohio Natural Areas and Preserves Association to help determine the cause(s) of ecosystem degradation at Cranberry Bog State Nature Preserve. Colin is a systematic thinker who focuses on tackling problems at their cause, not just managing symptoms. Colin holds multiple professional certifications, including his Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator license. He plans to obtain certification through the Society for Ecological Restoration (Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner) and the National Wildfire Coordinating Group in order to expand and further improve our management practices.
In his free time, Colin enjoys playing guitar, exploring his Scottish heritage, and practicing primitive skills using native natural resources. He also has a strong interest in the culinary arts, especially with native foods.

Griffon has a B.S. in Engineering Technology and Management. He enjoys projects that are challenging and require creative thinking. Working through the process of felling a large tree is his favorite part of the job. When he's not leading our field crew or implementing habitat projects on the ground, his primary role is as our main-maintenance man, working on all the equipment needed to do hands-on habitat work, from chainsaws to hand tools to ATVs and more. He became certified in herbicide application on the job and is working to gain more certifications including a license for drone applications. He has a wife and a son that he can’t wait to teach all about nature and what he’s learned from working with this company.

Since beginning my career as a high school English teacher, I've continued to emphasize the value of education and the ability to clearly communicate through writing as essential. These values have followed me through career changes and are consistently the primary focus of each position I've held. From starting and growing a small business with my husband and teaching others the importance of promoting native plants and the dangers of non-native invasive plant species to our native ecosystems to teaching high school sophomores the importance of persuasive and descriptive writing, the ability to clearly communicate through writing and the mindset of being a lifelong-learner, reader, writer, and teacher are key. Today, I use these skills to effectively communicate & build relationships with clients in order to build the native landscape of their dreams that hosts all our beneficial pollinators and and is still the envy of the neighborhood. All with a custom-made, unique & detailed plan in hand for a design you know you'll love.

David Stein is originally from Youngstown, Ohio. And has held a deep-seeded passion & curiosity towards watersheds, forests, meadows & their occupants since he could walk. He holds an AS from Hocking College’s Aquaculture program and is currently wrapping up his BS in wildlife conservation from the University of Rio Grande. Tackling every volunteer opportunity presented, he has racked up over one hundred hours of radio telemetry work studying the eastern box turtle & was awarded the “5 hickory nut technician” plaque for flying squirrel survey work. David is credited to three separate studies performed through his department. Originally, coming from a background in pest & wildlife control ; His past work also includes various local & state parks. Including Lake Snowden and Hocking Hills State Park. Where he received his chainsaw certification through the Ohio Forestry Association. Just one of various certifications he has or is working towards. In 2023 David spent time interning with Hocking Counties Health Department, doing fieldwork & lab work regarding mosquitoes and tick populations, helping to identify and spread awareness of the diseases they carry. In 2024 He worked as a wildlife technician under a private none-profit overseeing a state nature preserve. Fighting invasive plant life, the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid aphid, and acting as a preserve guide. The only thing more tenacious than oriental bittersweet is David Stein, and the only thing David really cares about at the end of the day is leaving this world a little better than he found it & getting a little dirty along the way. His hobbies include, but are not limited to hiking, foraging, cat fishing, hunting, growing houseplants, and he is a dedicated aquarist.
